About Sibshops Fernie
Brothers and sisters of a sibling with a disability will likely have the longest-lasting relationships. During their lives, they will experience most of the unique concerns and joys their parents do. But few siblings of kids with special needs have ever had the chance to talk about their experiences with other who “get it"—until now.
Sibshops Fernie is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to the siblings of children with special needs. We offer workshops where kids have a chance to meet other children whose brothers and sisters have special needs; they will have an opportunity to talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a special needs. Most importantly, they will have fun! Children will participate in games, cooking, craft activities, and make new friends.
Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for these siblings to bond and learn from each other. At Sibshops Fernie, we believe in the power of community and the importance of understanding. We strive to make a positive impact on the lives of these siblings and their families by offering our ongoing support and guidance. Join us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of these extraordinary kids.
At Sibshops Fernie, we believe that the kids are the teachers. The children lead the way, sharing and growing together, while our team provides resources and support. The real learning comes from their interactions with each other and their self-discovery.

Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where siblings of children with special needs feel supported, valued, and understood.

Imagine this: A child with a sibling who has special needs walks through school and passes a friend they met at a Sibshops Fernie workshop. They exchange a subtle smile and a knowing look, a connection that reflects their shared understanding and experiences. When these kids return home to face their own joys or challenges, they find strength and trust in the belief that they are not alone. They know that their Sibshops friends truly understand and support them, no matter what. This is our vision.
